Who Are We?
Community
Youth Development Foundation (CYDEF) is a voluntary Organization established in
2004 at Kintampo as a Community Based Organization (CBO). It was re-organized
in 2007 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and registered as such in
January, 2008 under the companies’ code 1963 (Act 179).
CYDEF
engages in multi-lateral and people oriented development activities aimed at
effecting economic, social and environmental charges among rural people, most
especially young people, women and children among others; most especially
meeting the needs of children’s health and education among others.
The
organization however seeks to empower rural women and youth through the
promotion of poverty reduction strategies, human rights as well as rights based
approach as a way of complementing the development efforts of government
alongside the international community, local development partners, private
individuals and stakeholders.
CYDEF
has over the years embarked on series of activities that helped in developing
and improving the lot of the rural poor. The organization has ensured building
the capacity of its voluntary groups and individuals as well as ensuring training
in entrepreneurial development and the health situation of the rural people
which enabled alleviation of poverty among them. More than One hundred and fifty-six
thousand (156,000) people benefited from its community development programmes
and sustainable delivery efforts.
Notably
among some of the programmes include Care and Support for PLHIV in Kintampo,
Malaria and TB, Sexual and Adolescents Reproductive Health sensitization for
Children and pregnant women programmes in thirty-five (35) communities,
HIV/AIDS educational activities in 26 communities and training workshop for 20
Health workers and peer educators on HIV and malaria sensitization.
